How to Choose a Pneumatic Pinch Valve

Pneumatic pinch valve, also known as pinch valve, squeeze valve, bladder valve, hose valve, airbag valve, pinch off valve, etc. The pinch valve rubber sleeve (inner bush) is an important part of the pinch valve and the core of the pinch valve. It provides corrosion resistance, wear-resistance, and pressure bearing capabilities. The quality of the air operated pinch valve depends on the quality of the inner bushing. Use pneumatic, electric, manual or hydraulic drive to squeeze the inner bushing to achieve the function of switch/adjustment.

The selection basis of the pneumatic pinch valve

1. Switch type

1) Nominal diameter of the pipe;

2) Working pressure and working temperature;

3) Media information, such as media composition, particle size, whether it contains corrosive chemicals, whether it contains grease or organic solvents, etc.;

4) The density of the medium;

5) On-site air source pressure;

6) Close/open time requirements;

7) Whether there is any valve position feedback requirement.

2. Adjustable

In addition to the above basic conditions, it is also necessary to provide:

1) Flow-the range of flow control;

2) The pressure in front of the valve at the flow rate;

3) Pressure behind the valve at the flow rate.

Application areas of air operated pinch valves

Because the pinch valve housing, flange, and casing cover can be equipped with a variety of materials according to different industries/applications, including aluminum, steel, stainless steel, plastic (such as POM or PVC), etc., and different elastomers (NR, EPDM, IIR, fluorine rubber, silicone, etc.) inner bushings. Therefore, the pneumatic pinch valve can be used in various applications. Typical industry applications are as follows:

  • Pneumatic conveying system for shutting off, metering, and controlling any kind of solid/bulk materials;

  • Vacuum conveying, used to seal/cut powder, granule, fiber, sheet material, pellet material, etc.;

  • In the chemical industry, it is used to meter/shut off paints, pigments, additives, fertilizers, etc.;

  • The plastic industry used to control, seal and distribute particles, powders, spherical materials, etc.;

  • Ceramic industry, as a shut-off valve for solids and sludge;

  • Environmental technology used to seal wastewater, dust, mud, etc.;

  • Water treatment/sewage treatment plants, as cut-off and/or regulating valves for lime milk, suspension, etc.;

  • Equipment manufacturing/powder painting used to shut down and meter powder, paint, etc.;

  • Construction/cement industry, as a stop valve for cement, concrete, sand, gravel, gypsum, mortar, etc.;

  • Commercial vehicles used to block the exhaust pipes of various bulk materials;

  • Silo, as overflow protection of silo components, closing blowpipe, distribution, extraction, etc.;

  • The mining industry used to cut off and control the transportation of minerals, ore, coal, etc.;

  • Train, as a check valve for feces and greywater in vacuum toilet systems;

  • Metering and weighing system for additives, dyes, pastes, etc.;

  • The food industry, measuring and cutting off feed, barley, pressed residue, sauce, syrup, flavor, spices, flour, salt, sugar, nuts, fruits, vegetables, coffee beans/powder, offal, etc.
